Do it for Devon

Devon County Council is a large and diverse organisation that serves around 800,000 people across the only county in England with two coastlines. We are responsible for a wide range of services, including education, social care, highways, libraries, waste management, public health, and economic development. Welcome

Lead with Purpose. Shape Devon’s Future.

We’re recruiting two exceptional leaders to join Devon County Council at a pivotal moment in our journey. These roles—Director of Finance and Public Value and Director of Children and Young People’s Futures (statutory Director of Children’s Services)—are central to our ambition to deliver better outcomes for residents, especially children and families.

Why Devon?

Devon County Council serves around 800,000 people and is proud of its commitment to public service. We’re embracing transformation, exploring new structures for local government and strategic arrangements for devolution. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to reimagine how we deliver services and support our communities.

Both roles will be part of a collaborative and forward-thinking Strategic Leadership Team, working at the heart of local democracy to shape services that truly matter.

Our Commitment to Diversity

Devon County Council embraces the positive benefits of a diverse workforce and is committed to providing an environment that is inclusive and safe. We welcome applications from people who share our commitment to stop discrimination, challenge inequality, and promote diversity across Devon.
