Political Make-up of Devon County Council

 

Devon County Council is made up of 60 elected County Councillors, chosen by eligible voters during the most recent elections held in May 2025. These elections take place every four years, with the next scheduled for 2029.

Following the 2025 elections, the political composition of the Council is as follows:

  • Liberal Democrat: 27
  • Reform UK: 18
  • Conservative: 7
  • Green: 6
  • Independent: 2

Each Councillor represents a specific area known as an ‘electoral division’ and plays a vital role in shaping the future of Devon. Their responsibilities include:

  • Making policy and strategic decisions across the wide range of services the Council provides.
  • Representing and advocating for the interests of residents within their electoral division.
  • Acting as ambassadors for the Council at local, regional, national, and potentially international levels.
